#chesterculture – Cheshire Hellcats Host British Roller Derby Championships: Tier 5 Women’s Double Header

Cheshire Hellcats Roller Derby League are taking part in this year’s Roller Derby British Championships for the first time. Formed in 2013, the all female team will face five teams in tier five of the championships.

This coming Saturday, 9th April 2016,  will see Cheshire Hellcats hosting a double header for British Roller Derby Tier 5 Championships.

The first bout of the day will see Reaper Roller Derby taking on Bedfordshire Roller Girls.

The second bout is promised to be a cat fight between Cheshire Hellcats and Wakey Wheeled Cats.

Team Captain, Sam Platt aka. Splatterhouse said: “We are thrilled that the Hellcats will play in the British Championships this year. As a team we have been training hard for this and not only does taking part in the Champs ensure we grow as a league, it also gives us the opportunity to face more experienced teams and push ourselves to a new level. Win or lose we will enjoy every second of it.”

Roller Derby has been gaining popularity in the UK over the last ten years and is a full contact team sport played on roller skates. You can find out more about what roller derby is here.
