Grosvenor Museum, Chester Traditional Music of Japan Saturday 6 February 2016 2-3pm The haunting sound of the koto, Japan’s national instrument, comes to the Grosvenor Museum as part of the museum’s Samurai Arms + Armour exhibition. Sumie Kent has over 40 years of experience of playing the koto + has Samurai ancestry from both her parents. Wearing traditional costume, she will sing + play music which explores the full range of the koto from the time of the Samurai, when it was considered a romantic instrument, to its use in modern Japanese music. This show is suitable for those 12+. Free but suggested donation of £3
