Drop In Session on the progress of new Chester cultural centre and theatre project- ReNew

The team behind the project transforming Chester’s former Odeon cinema into a brand new cultural centre is hosting drop-in sessions to inform the public on progress.


The sessions are due to take place on Friday 27th and Saturday 28th November, in Chester Town Hall.

Visitors will be able to find out more about the project including latest developments, progress on construction, plans for the centre’s programme as well discuss ideas and thoughts with the project’s designers, architects, builders and creative programmers.

The sessions will also provide members of the public with the opportunity to share their thoughts on the naming of the new centre.

Louise Gittins, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Wellbeing, Cheshire West and Chester said: ‘this is the public’s opportunity to come and ask questions about the new cultural centre, find out about the development so far, plans over the next 12 months and most importantly ways that they can be involved’.

Alex Clifton, Artistic Director, Chester Performs who will run the cultural centre, said ‘the purpose of the centre is to serve the community in which it is based, these sessions form part of the ongoing conversations we want to have with the centres new communities. Everyone is welcome.

The cultural centre is due open in the autumn 2016, it will house a world class library offering the latest in digital technologies, 500/800 seat theatre spaces that will present home produced and the country’s best touring work, a 100 seat cinema, screening the best independent and mainstream film, plus café and bar spaces.

The sessions, hosted in the Palatine Room in Chester Town Hall, will take place between 4-7.30pm on Friday 27th November and between 10am – 4pm on Saturday 28th.
