LAUGHTER THROUGH TEARS AS SEASON GETS UNDER WAY AT CHESTER THEATRE
Final preparations are under way at The Forum Studio Theatre in Chester for Tip Top Productions opening play of their new season, “Steel Magnolias” by Robert Harling which runs at the theatre from 17th – 26th September.
“Laughter through tears is my favourite emotion,” notes one of the characters in the play, a heart warming story which tells the story of a group of women who gather each week at a salon in Louisiana. The owner Truvy, dispenses shampoo and advice to Ouiser, the town curmudgeon, we meet Miss Clairee an eccentric millionaire with a sweet tooth and M’Lynn whose daughter Shelby is about to get married. Tough as steel, fragile as magnolias they gossip, tease, laugh, fight and comfort each other as they go through everything life can throw at them.
Making up the cast are some new members to Tip Top, including Annabel Johnson (pictured) who takes up the role of Shelby. Annabel who attended St John Deane’s College to study performing arts has previously been in a production with Theatre in the Quarter last year. Popular Chester based Director Gail Young is putting the finishes touches to what promises to be a fabulous opening show for the theatre company’s opening play of their 2015/16 season at the Chester venue.
Other highlights of the upcoming season include the musical “Love Story” in October (based on the book and film of 1970) followed by traditonal family Pantomime which this year is “Dick Whittington”
