Welcome to the 2015-16 season of Chester Film Society – our 45th season!

You will be please to note that all films in general are screened on a Tuesday evening at your preferred venue St Mary’s Centre, with a start this season on 15th September at St Mary’s with our opening neo-noir crime thriller Nightcrawler.
Members support last season was invaluable which made it one of the most popular ever. You can now look forward to more delights demonstrating a superb and diverse selection of international films representing all 5 continents, and note that this season has a total of 19 films.
Scandi-noir has not been forgotten with the opening film in 2016 on Tuesday 18th January with Roy Andersson’s Golden Lion Winner A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence. This is Andersson’s concluding film in his “Living” trilogy.
This season we will also be presenting the 30th Chester International Film Festival and accompanying this will be the 3rd Chester Animation Festival. Where shown in the programme, Festival screenings are free to members.
The usual social events are planned with our Welcome Reception at St Mary’s Centre on 29th September prior to the screening of our classic presentation – Fellini’s 8½ – and on Saturday evening 6th February with our Social Night – Food, Film and Fun!
You will notice that on 29th March at the Little Theatre there is no detail of the film rather Members’ Choice. This is a new initiative for this season which will allow you to choose out of 3 new releases the favourite to be screened, the 3 options will be announced at the screening of British comedy drama X+Y on 15th March.
Chester Film Society is a membership society and membership is limited so please don’t miss out – send your completed membership application form as soon as possible.Membership is just £40 for the full season. Membership normally sells out quickly. Please remember to include your cheque and a stamped addresses envelope. (Sorry no credit card facilities.)
