Commemoration in the city of Chester – for the longest reigning monarch…..

History in the making in Chester- once again!

September 9th marks the day That Queen Elizabeth becomes the longest reigning monarch in British history. She will be taking over from her great-great grandmother Queen Victoria.

Queen Victoria reigned for 63 years and 216 days.

Celebrations will be alive and well in CHESTER for the day. The GIANTS will be out with a large versions of Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth in attendance.

The 12’ tall Queen Victoria will be at the Cross from 10.30am until noon.

Russell Kirk will be organising the event and it proves to be a stellar procession as always. This day the Eastgate gates will be put in place–symbolically for now. To take us back to the day. The temporary  Eastgates will be  held in place by a group of Roman legionaries, the original founders of the city.

David Mitchell , the Chester Town Crier, will provide commentary during the ceremony.
