Young thespians wanted for the return of Lynk Cheshire
Performers at Minerva Arts
Lynk Cheshire summer project returns to Chester for a second year.
In 2014 Minerva Arts and Warrington based theatre company Express Youth Theatre collaborated on an innovative pilot drama project, which saw young people from different communities come together collaborating on an exciting week of summer school.
The project will now return for 2015 called ‘Be Creative’, aiming to build young people’s confidence, creating bonds and friendships through theatre exploration.
Kyle who will be leading the project in Chester explains
“Last year our first Lynk Cheshire project was extremely successful and enabled members of your group to develop their skills beyond their normal Youth Theatre experience. The Lynk Cheshire project is all about allowing young people to take the next step in improving their performance skills and learning what it is like to work in a professional performance company”.
This summer’s project begins with a day trip on August 10th at Crosby Beach and continues with a week of intensive devising at ‘hubs’ in Chester and Warrington.
Young people from Chester will be based at the usual Minerva Arts venue at the Kingsway Buildings, University of Chester and throughout the week the groups will share their work and contribute to each other’s performances.
Hollie from Express Youth Theatre stated that “We are very excited to be involved with Lynk Cheshire for a second year. The first project was such a fantastic success, it’s great to build upon that and offer more opportunities for young people to engage with the arts in Cheshire.”
The project concludes with each group performing to friends and family. The drama pieces will then be recorded with each performance being digitally integrated to create an original Lynk Cheshire film.
There are very limited places on this project so if you would like to be involved please contact Minerva Arts via email at Minerva_arts@live.co.uk to find out more.
