As part of a summer of great music celebrating the 25th of one of Chester’s best loved music venues, Alexander’s in Rufus Court is kicking of with a new weekly blues night, starting on the 25th June. The night will feature some of the countries most prolific blues artists all the way up until the end of August, including –
Jun 25th – Connie Lush
Connie Lush is one of the finest blues singers to come out of the United Kingdom in recent years. Voted Best UK Female Vocalist by the readers of Blues in Britain five different years places her in an elite group of blues artists. In France, she won European Singer of the Year beating all the of the competition in the French Blues Trophies awards for 2002. Connie has one of the most incredible blues voices you will ever hear. Her powerful vocals are the UK’s answer to a combination of Etta James and Tina Turner.

There’s a whole deal of experience behind vocalist and guitarist Chad Strentz. Billed as one of the best Blues singers in Europe, Chad started out as a rockabilly hound at the age of 15. He enjoyed success on this circuit in the U.K. and Europe. In 1991 he got together with Paul Lamb & they toured extensively with The King Snakes and released over 10 CD’s to much acclaim. With Chad, you will find in his voice and guitar playing a blend of music ranging from blues, soul, rockabilly and more…..
Jul 16 – Lol Goodman Blues Band
Lol Goodman Band has existed in varied formats and with various musicians for nearly twenty years. For fifteen of those years James Horrocks has been an almost constant member either on second lead guitar or bass guitar. The addition five years ago of drummer, Jon Firth meant that Lol could continue to deliver the kind of sound and feel first formed in the towns and cities of the US and adopted by the great British bands of the late 60’s and early 70’s. The band regularly works the clubs, pubs and festivals of, mainly, the North of England performing their brand of gritty blues.
Jul 23 – Ramshackle Blues Band
Ramshackle are a four piece guitar driven blues rock band from the North West of England.
With tonnes of experience between them from cabaret to supporting major artists on tour they have built up a unique repertoire consisting of foot-stomping classic Blues, off-radar Blues and Americana, Funk, some down and dirty Rock ‘n’ Roll numbers plus some startling originals, this band really knows how to make their audience sit up and take notice.

All completed by the Alexander’s Blues Jam, taking place on every last Sunday of the month, if you play any instrument or sing, join in with the fantastic house band. Open to blues fans and jammers.
