A new term of Still Life drawing classes began this week at Handel Court Gallery in Chester city centre.
The classes run every other Tuesday evening, 6.30 – 8.30 pm, with the next class on 30th September.
As Jilly tells us;
“We are a friendly art group “Secret Art Society” and work in different pencil, charcoal, pastels, conte. It doesn’t matter if you are a total beginner you will have the opportunity to try different materials and learn drawing skills.
A still life is a painting or drawing featuring an arrangement of inanimate, everyday objects, whether natural objects (flowers, food, wine, etc.) or manufactured items (books, bottles, crockery, etc.). Traditionally, some of the objects in a still life were likely to have selected for their symbolic meaning, but this symbolism eludes most modern-day visitors. Cut flowers or a piece of decaying fruit, for instance, symbolism mortality. Buta still life painting doesn’t have to have symbolism.”
All equipment and materials provided, tea, coffee, biscuits.
This is a class for all levels, beginners welcome.
£10.00 per session.
